Get Out of the Basement (GOOTB) is a youth-targeted digital content campaign developed by McKim in 2014 that challenges young Manitobans to get out and explore the province. Presented in partnership with our client Travel Manitoba, a team of teenaged GOOTB creatives and producers spend their summer attending Manitoba events and activities, and developing social and digital media campaigns. The team’s video, photographic and written content speaks directly to youth, with the 2014, 2015 and winter 2016 campaigns accumulatively generating hundreds of interactions.
McKim is delighted with the success of the program, as well as the recognition from our clients and news media across Manitoba. We’re proud of the authentic and engaging content the team has developed, but without a doubt, the best part has been watching the growth of the fantastic young people the agency has been able to mentor through the program.

The 2015 GOOTB campaign was also a finalist for campaign of the year and best social media campaign of the year categories at the Winnipeg Ad Association’s 2016 Signature Awards.
