Manitoba Opera – 2011-2012 Campaign

Case Study

Each year, Manitoba Opera wows audiences with powerfully passionate, high quality productions. This upcoming season will be no different. In an effort to encapsulate the dramatic and rich storytelling elements of these highly anticipated performances, MCG opted for a slightly risky, very modern approach to the creative.

The theme for this years materials was suggested by a famous scene in Salome – “Dance of the Seven Veils.” MCG based the campaign on the theme “UNVEIL,” and paired it with clean yet sensuous creative.

Posters
Manitoba Opera 2011-2012 - Salome PosterA story of desire, seduction and revenge, the one time banned and extremely controversial Salome is a risqué, sensual opera. That feeling is captured in the powerful, yet delicately beautiful poster.
Manitoba Opera 2011-2012 - Daughter of the Regiment PosterIn direct contrast to Salome, The Daughter of the Regiment is a light, bubbly production. The easily understood, accessible nature of the opera is clearly communicated through the poster.

While both productions are exceedingly different, the intrinsic, charismatic style and personality of Manitoba Opera is carried throughout both designs. The common theme is that of storytelling, with both narratives told almost completely through the visuals.
