St. John Ambulance Manitoba engaged the agency’s public relations department in anticipation of the organization’s 100th anniversary in the province.
The agency developed a media event that would showcase the organization’s many services and generate positive earned media.
There were two events. The first event took place in July, where St. John Ambulance handed over of 23 Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) to the Town of Carman to demonstrate the largest single purchase of the devices in rural Manitoba.
The event received media coverage in Carman, Manitoba. The agency also coordinated live media interviews with the CEO of St. John Ambulance Manitoba and a Carman town councillor.
The second event took place in August. It consisted of a flag-raising ceremony at the Manitoba Legislative Building, where St. John Ambulance was formally recognized for its contributions to the province and included remarks from the Manitoba minister of health. St. John Ambulance board members, instructors, volunteers and heroes attended and participated in the event, which included casualty simulations; first aid, CPR and defibrillator demonstrations; interactions with St. John Ambulance therapy dogs and their handlers; and recognition of St. John Ambulance heroes.
The agency worked closely with the client on strategizing, writing and communicating numerous components of both events, including writing press materials, showcasing St. John Ambulance’s many assets, advising Winnipeg and rural Manitoba media of the events, and coordinating speakers and media interviews.
