Autumn 2018 marks the 10th anniversary of a highly memorable event. In 2008, McKim had the pleasure of quickly developing a promotional campaign for client the St-Boniface Hospital Foundation.* The campaign was for the Foundation’s marquee gala, which honoured extraordinary humanitarians and other heroes.
It was Sir Bob Geldof’s turn.
“The thrill of the evening itself, was second only to the delight of being involved in the promotional campaign that preceded it,” recalls Ron Sawchuk, McKim’s VP Creative Services. “The concept had to be quick in the making, and even quicker in the approval. In a flurry of activity, we presented the layout to the client during the press conference to announce the event. The conference was well underway, and behind the curtain, our client smiled and gave our execution for the pop culture a nod of approval. Then, it was promptly revealed to media and the masses, all within a minute or so.”

Jesse Cringan, who managed the account and attended the gala, recalls that Geldof also liked the creative.
“Coming up with the Geldof campaign was tons of fun for the entire agency,” Jesse said. “And then having Sir Bob Geldof say that he liked the work so much that he planned on hanging a couple of the campaign pieces in his study at home, well, man – how cool is that?”
