Travel Manitoba is pleased to announce that after a comprehensive review and competition among Manitoba agencies, it has selected Winnipeg-based advertising agency McKim Cringan George (MCG) to serve as creative and strategic lead for its 2014 tourism marketing campaign.
“I’ve always believed there’s a great deal of creative and business talent in Manitoba,” says Colin Ferguson, Travel Manitoba President and CEO. “Our selection process really proved that. We had submissions from several Manitoba advertising firms — and all were terrific. It was very hotly contested. But in the end we felt MCG had the right combination of talent and experience to help us create the awe-inspiring brand we’re looking for.”
MCG’s involvement will begin immediately and will include researching Manitoba’s best potential target visitors, drawing on a new body of research developed by the Canadian Tourism Commission, Canada’s national tourism marketing organization. Called “The Explorer Quotient (R)”, the research helps tourism destinations and operators profile their customers, plan campaigns and ultimately deliver the types of experiences that consumers are most likely to buy.
“Landing Travel Manitoba is an exciting opportunity for our agency,” says MCG President and CEO Peter George. “Everyone in our shop is passionate about their work, and passionate about Manitoba. Working on the Travel Manitoba pitch energized us as an agency and we can hardly wait to tell the world about our great province.”
MCG serves international, national and regional clients including Crown corporations, post-secondary education institutions, governments, not-for-profits and private sector companies. The agency has won numerous local, national and international awards for its work and employs about 30 people in offices in Winnipeg and Regina.
Travel Manitoba is a Crown corporation under provincial legislation that leads and stimulates sustainable tourism growth in Manitoba’s $1.3 billion tourism industry. In partnership with the tourism industry, the agency is responsible for tourism marketing, visitor information services, product development, research and public information.
